Model Depose are ‘the New Romantics’ of modern times. The identity of this Dutch group is reminiscent of dark new wave from the postpunk era, as represented by bands such as The Cure, Depeche Mode and Joy Division. It is hard to deny the stylistic influences of that era, but when you listen a bit longer, you will find that there is much more to this electro-wave band. Beneath the surface there are multiple styles and influences, as well as a modern perspective. Tight, spacy synths, pounding drums, wavy and rocking guitars and intense vocals define the poppy songs of Model Depose, that you can't forget once you've heard them. Model Depose has a long history. Even before it existed, band members played together in electronic doom and gothic metal bands and experimental ambient/noise settings. Model Depose's first sign of life was the release of their untitled EP in 2011. Back then, 'Nikita' was the backbone of the band: a computer that was used for drums and samples. In 2012, the band decided to continue with a live drummer in combination with pulsating electronics. In this setting, the band played major Dutch venues such as the Melkweg, P60 and Patronaat, where they alternated their energetic up-tempo pop songs with more modest tracks driven by emotion. At the start of 2013 Model Depose won second place in the Demodock finals of Eric Corton’s music platform Cortonville and they were selected for the Popronde. During the fall of 2013, Model Depose will present their latest achievement: the EP 'Nightwatch'. For this EP they worked with the German producer Malte Lahrmann. This co-operation resulted in songs that are catchier than ever before. With Nightwatch these ‘new romantics’ will try to win the hearts of the Dutch crowds during their club tour.
