As a band, The Grass is a melting pot of musical styles; three chord country, jangley folk-rock, gritty 50’s style power chording, mammoth arena rock and spirited do-wop group sing-a-longs all find their place in the music. Inspired by old records and ancient concert footage, the members of The Grass joined together in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia in early 2005 to play music that sounds like all their favourite bands performing simultaneously. While trying to play as often as possible, The Grass have appeared at rock n roll bars, country clubs, birthday parties, discos, university benefits, book readings, weddings, lunch hours, and library socials. They will continue to play whenever they are allowed. The Grass recorded their debut album Mulgrave during late 2005 at Sound Market studios in Halifax N.S., paying for it with money earned from shows and with financial help from the band’s manager Tim Ryan. The album was released shortly thereafter on January 7th 2006 at the Khyber club. The Grass released their follow-up album, Oranges, on July 28th at Stage Nine in Halifax.
