简介

Way Beyond the Blue All songs written by Jeffery Jones I am a lucky guy. First, I was inspired to write a bunch of songs after returning from a vacation in Sayulita, Mexico. Then, I had the means to record them and present them here. I have a supportive wife and talented son that have encouraged this project’s completion. There have been so many wonderful musical experiences that have led to this recording. I am so very thankful. I sincerely hope you enjoy what you hear on this. Thanks to Melody for her support, opinions and love. Thanks to Julian for his dedication to his music and his wonderful performances on this CD. Thanks to Glenn Freese and his hammered Dulcimer and for being my friend and music mate for three decades. Thanks to my music friends in Siskiyou Summit for allowing me a venue for musical expression. That’s Not Enough If you’ve been in love and lost, you might be able to relate to this song. Sometimes breakups are difficult to understand. But in this case, she’s made it very clear. Way Beyond the Blue When I wrote this song, I wasn’t sure what it was about. I had the chorus, a verse and melody. Then I went for a run and it came to me that it was about a husband who had past and has many regrets about his married life. Don’t be that guy. Take your wife to Paris. Side Effects If you’ve watched TV, you’ve seen Pharmaceutical company’s ads listing the side effects of their drug. I found all the side effects used in this song on those company websites. The song wrote itself and it offers a solution. I Saw God Melody and I were camping and I played this for her. I told her that I was considering using it for the upcoming Jeff All-stars Concert. I did and folks seem to like it. Just another interpretation of God. There seems to be a lot of opinions on the subject: most people just trying to explain their existence, I guess. My point is that God is where you see it. To the Breeze I came up with the guitar intro on my lunch and recorded it on my iPhone. After working for several hours, I sat at my keyboard and typed the first thing that popped into my head. “She jumped all the fences.” It can be interpreted in different ways, it just depends on your point of view. All I know is that there are a lot of true lines in it. Winter’s Darkest Day On December 20th, 2014 I looked out my window at our Hawthorne tree. The berries were bright red and ripe. Each year around this time, a flock of Robins come and devour them. That made me think of the cycle of life and birds so I wrote this simple Carter Family-type song. Bleecker Hill I grew up in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains in Upstate New York. Those ancient hills hold many secrets. This could be one of them. All I know is that I wouldn’t camp out on Bleecker Hill during a full moon. Dear Ones On Christmas Eve Day I was feeling particularly nostalgic. This song for all the Dear Ones in my life. I gave it to close friends and family as a Christmas gift. IN THE VALLEY OF THE ROGUE I have lived in the Rogue Valley for over 30 years. It’s a beautiful place. Thanks to Crystal Reeves, Glenn Freese and Rick Nelson of Siskiyou Summit singing with me on this Bluegrass quartet. Birthdays Suck I woke up one morning and thought that we needed an honest birthday song. Now, I don’t always feel this way about birthdays, but ask me again in a few years. Look Away A song about apathy seemed an odd subject. But when the Muse strikes, you write. In the end, there are lessons learned. I love Julian’s fiddle playing on Morrison’s Jig. It reminds me of our days performing together as Generation Jones. Sunrise Melody Here’s a meditative little tune for the moring. It’s named for my wife. One of her favorite things is getting up and having coffee and conversation with me. I am blessed.
