Mirror on the Wall was written and recorded in April 2012 at Avalanche Studios in Melbourne, Australia, produced by Callan Orr (Dream on, Dreamer). The eleven track concept album contains eight solid heavy tracks as well as instrumental, interlude and acoustic pieces. The concept of the album is described below and is taken from the first page of the album’s booklet artwork: “Let me introduce myself, my name is death you know me well.” A distant voice speaks. The stage is set and the theatrics are about to begin. “Let me introduce myself, I am you, your own flesh and blood.” You hear your insides cry out these words as you stare into the distant mirror. The longer you stare, the more you feel the weight of mankind. What’s looking back at you has a life of its own. It passes no judgment while it breathes the endless possibilities into your eyes and ears. There is no forth wall; there is no distinction between you and anyone else in the room. The chains of convention have been broken. Mirror on the Wall. This concept album has been written as an exploration of human emotion under the influence of physical, metaphysical and spiritual pressures. It takes an abstract look at all areas of life, love, addiction and regret – from the highest feelings of ecstasy, to the times we hit rock bottom. The heavy vocals are the words of a storyteller, as well as representing the world, and the powers that we as humans can’t always explain with within our earthly constructs. The clean vocals are the voice of everyman, all spoken in first-person, allowing you to take part in the journey as if it is current and real. So sit back, open your ears, and enjoy the ride.
