Floyd Brown hails from the Baton Rouge, Louisiana area and started his music career in his early teens. He was signed to a local label and they released his first record at age 14. Floyd then started performing with his band, The Emeralds. While Floyd was 15 years old, he and his band won the state battle of the bands. This success led to his next record, “Teenage Vision”, which became a regional hit. It was recorded in New Orleans by the legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member, Cosimo Matassa. Floyd became a crucial part of the South Louisiana music scene due to his powerful voice and songwriting abilities. Eventually Floyd progressed to recording for MCA Records and performing on national TV. In 2005 The Best of Floyd Brown was released and contains his most successful songs like “I Can’t Sleep If I Can’t Sleep With You” and the self penned songs “Kiss Me Just One More Time” and “In A Pouring Rain”. Floyd Brown still performs for his legion of fans and has now come full circle by returning to his musical roots. The Raising Cane on the Bayou Extended Play CD contains four songs that showcase Floyd Brown’s distinctive and soulful voice. “Raising Cane on the Bayou” and “That’s New Orleans” are the first two songs on this EP. New Orleans musical influences can be definitely heard and felt on these tunes. Both songs were written by Rex Pearce and Dale Murray. Rex produced the previously mentioned The Best of Floyd Brown CD. Rex and Dale both produced Louisiana’s LeRoux (The Sessions Years) CD. LeRoux is best known for their classic song “New Orleans Ladies”.
