Das ist nun vorbei. Man ist auf Italo-Western umgestiegen, was besonders bei den Videos der Band zu sehr unterhaltsamen Resultaten geführt hat. (bitte unbedingt auch bei youtube mal nachschauen!) Der schmutzige Zehner aus Katalonien, der seine Musik wechselweise auch als \'Boss Porn Ska\' bezeichnet, spielt allerdings noch immer gerne mit Anzüglich-Eindeutigem und greift damit auf die tiefen Traditionen von Ska und Reggae zurück, die ja immer mal wieder ganz deftige Songtexte zum Besten gaben (Push Wood, The Needle, P**sy Catch A Fire, etc, etc). Es geht also nicht um den sauberen Wilden Westen eines Kevin Costner, hier tanzt niemand mit dem Wolf. Hier sind Männer vor allem voller Whiskey und ständig hinter den wenigen Frauen her – abends gibt’s Bohnen mit Speck und morgens wäscht man sich höchstens die Kehle (mit Whiskey, klar). Die katalanischen Cabrians gibt es seit acht Jahren und ihr Debutalbum \'Black Momerota\' hatte mich vor drei Jahren in ziemliche Exstase versetzt: so rau, schmutzig und humorvoll hatte schon lange keiner mehr den alten Ska gespielt. \'For a Few Pussies More\' knüpft dort an, allerdings eben mit einem klaren Einschlag von Western. So ist die Platte auch exzellent gestaltet, inklusive Wanted-Poster und der angesprochenen Komplettüberarbeitung der eigenen Internetseite. Das ist ungewöhnlich viel Aufwand für eine Skaband – ich weiß nicht, ob sie bei ihren Konzerten jetzt auch als Cowboys auftreten, mit Peitsche und Platzpatronen, aber ich kann nur sagen: wundern würde es mich nicht. Das Markenzeichen der Cabrians ist ein absolut entspannter Trad-Ska, der zwischen schnell swingend und langsam jazzelnd pendelt, dabei aber vor allem außergewöhnlich groovig bleibt. Der Vergleich mit den Skatalites ist wirklich nicht weit hergeholt, so großartig spielen die Instrumente miteinander (\'Pep Meets the Prophet\', \'Whiskey A Gogo\'). Diese Musik hätte einen schweren, whiskey-sauren Gesang verdient – aber hier singt \'Mario Cabretti\', der leider absichtlich so stark wie möglich näselt. Das ist – gelinde gesagt – gewöhnungsbedürftig, hat aber ab und an tatsächlich eine eigene Qualität und man gewöhnt sich daran. Wenn es also eine Schwachstelle bei den Cabrians gibt, dann ist es der Sänger. Das sollte aber niemanden von dieser erstklassigen Skamusik abhalten, die von Stück zu Stück immer wieder Neues zu bieten hat: \'Bang Bang Shot\' ist wie aus einem Pianoautomaten im Wilden Westen, \'P**sy Juice\' ist ganz alter, traditioneller Ska, \'Maximiliano Malote\' ist wie ein Instrumental des guten alten King Hammond aufgebaut. Es ist eine Platte, die ihre Einheitlichkeit aus durchaus unterschiedlichen Liedern zu bauen weiß und die dann mit jedem Hören besser wird. The album has been released on two labels-- Redstar 73 and Liquidator Music. Both great labels that are creating and supporting the thriving reggae scene in Spain. This album embraces wild western themes with upbeat ska, skinhead reggae, and rocksteady all thrown into the mix. Most of the songs seem to be appropriately themed drinking (\"Drunkard\'s Pride\"), violence (\"Bang Bang Shot\"), and sex (\"P**sy Juice\" or \"Cackie Cackie Monster\"). If you are looking for sophisticated pc reggae the album \"For A Few Pussies More\" should be fare warning enough. The album is sprinkled with sound effects and intros that pull from westerns and early reggae DJ\'s that boasted of their badness, bravado, and sexuality (King Stitt, Crystalites, Lee Perry, etc.). The instrumentals are very precise and creative \"Maximilians Mallote Shoots First\" is complete boss reggae driven by the organ but the powerful rhythm keeps the song shaking and grooving. \"Pep Meets the Prophet\" is a driving ska instrumental mostly horn driven that very well could be a b-side from the Skatalites. \"Petaca Rodrigues Law\" gives respect to the trombone man Rico Rodriquez pure \"Bullet\" style. The album contains so much different types of music and they pull it all off. This album has no weak points. The vocals on this album are shared so each singer has a different style. Ruben Lopez Warrior guests on a \"A Few Pussies More\" and his toasting pays homage to the foundation DJ\'s like Dennis Alcapone and Scotty (and maybe some Rocker T). \"No More Politicians Alive\" features Cabra singing this quirky ska number. \"F**k and Fight In Britian\" is one of my favorite tunes on the album with a calypso/soca type beat Lthe band shows their versatility. \"Fanny Melinda\" is a rocksteady love song which the band smoothly transitions into without missing a beat. \"Whiskey A Gogo\" is early r&b ska swing style which has the bluebeat style down to a \"T\". \"Babareggae\" is more Upsetters/Hippy Boys skinhead reggae style with a heavy guitar carrying a sweet melody line on top of vocals and heavy guiro action keeps the song tough throughout. The Cabrians do what they do and they do it well. Of course classics like \"Pig Dick\" don\'t come as often as this band effortlessly conquers numerous styles without breaking a sweat. This album is one of the best I\'ve heard all year with 20 tracks to boot. This album will not disappoint anyone from the first listen to the constant continual listens.
