The 11 song debut album from Love Science Music is a powerful artistic statement of groove, vocal prowess, and soul. The self-titled record has roots in the raw grit of folkloric music and jazz, as well as the polished power of modern pop, R&B, and indie rock. The music fearlessly breaks conventions of standard song structure and expectation, creating a dialect of sound that is all its own. LSM navigates old & new - seamlessly blending digital instruments with live musicians into a rich and funky tapestry relevant to modern people in modern times. LSM is instantly recognizable by its catchy soul hooks, deep grooves, clever lyrics, slick production, and engaging pace. The album features 10 different New York based vocalists, each showcased on a different song. LSM’s founder & producer Josh Giunta stays inspired by pairing each one of his unique compositions with the perfect vocalist and musical personality. The catalyst for the multi-vocalist project was Giunta’s desire to work with the best singers he had access to. “There are so many amazing singers in New York with whom I wanted to work,” he says. “Instead of waiting around to be hired, I decided that the quickest way to establish myself was to create my own body of music and invite my favorite singers to be a part of it.” Giunta shared lyrical and melodic duties with the vocalists involved, “I was blown away by the creative talent of every singer on the record. When you give the ‘right’ vocalist the ‘right’ track you find musical magic. When they truly hear what you’re going for in the production, they carry the song to a place far above your best imagination. That’s the best part of the process.” The featured singers on the album are: Cole Williams, Jordana De Lovely, Adam Minkoff, Melanie J-B Charles, Richie Aveo, Fabiana Masili, JorScan, Tradonia Baker, Kaleta (Leon Ligan-Majek), and Akie Bermiss. The personnel on the album boast an impressive resume, having performed/recorded with: Fela Kuti, Destiny’s Child, Blondie, Jose James, Sharon Jones and The Dap- Kings, The Machine, Tortured Soul, Antibalas, The Pimps of Joytime, Esperanza Spalding, and Jeff Mangum to name a few. The depth of the unique LSM sound is a direct result of Giunta’s years of experience as a first rate New York drummer and recording/mix engineer. He has worked in NYC recording studios since 2008, currently holding the post as studio house drummer and engineer at NYC’s Sweetsounds Recording Studio in SoHo. He spent 3 years working on the album, tirelessly writing, tracking, editing, mixing, and remixing. The work process for the record was unorthodox; “I get really excited by hearing things I’ve never heard before and creating new work flows.... some songs on the record have four drum kits tracked as layers. On other songs the band would track over top of a sequenced idea... I’d then mix it and bring it right back to the studio for the band to track over top of again. That’s when it’s starts to get really fun.” “I view being a musician, an engineer, a mixer, and a producer as one in the same...it’s all about just using your ears and doing what feels good and sounds good.” Conceptually, Love Science Music seeks to inspire. “This music was born from a tremendous amount of positive energy and growth. I want this music to inspire people to wake up, jump up, and do something cool... and I subscribe to the idea that the best music moves the booty and the mind.”
