Electronic band BrazilBeat Sound System is a rising international talent on the cutting edge of roots and dance music. The DJ-percussion act originated in San Francisco in 2000. Now based in NZ, BBSS have developed a strong underground following, rocking festivals, and releasing original music. Internationally renowned Brazilian percussionist Nego Beto created the project after playing, recording, producing and educating in five continents over his 20-year music career. Highlights include touring with high-profile international bands, including reggae legends The Wailers and producing television programmes for MTV in Brazil. In live performances, Nego Beto owns the stage with his riveting performances on congas, timbales, bongos, drum machines and varied percussion instruments. Californian DJ Mara infuses tropical motifs with thunderous basslines. The BBSS sound is an explosion of Brazilian, electronic, injected with roots level percussion.
