Gerson Herrera (18), born on St. Martin F.W.I. on November 08 in 1996. Is an upcoming R&B / Hip Hop artist, on the island of St. Eustatius. Growing up in a Christian home, singing was something Gerson was always exposed to, whether it was at church or at home with his family. He also liked playing instruments like the drums and the piano. He was taught to play the piano by his mother and a few months after he became a musician at the church. He also took part in a lot of music related activities and talent shows. 
At times he got laughed at because of his nerve problem that caused his hands to shake when under pressure or when handling small objects. Never the less he continued in what he loved best: MUSIC. In 2008 Gerson and his family moved to the island of St. Eustatius. After turning 16, Gerson started thinking on what he was going to pursue as a career. It was no surprise that music was his first preference. Later he got introduced to Dion Humphreys, better known locally as MEGA D, where he recorded his first song entitled “Don’t do drugs” for a Motivational Album. From that point on Gerson and Mega D started working closer on other music projects and recordings. Gerson and Mega D developed a father son relationship. He taught Gerson basic music engineering skills and Mega D, being an artist himself, also coached Gerson in stage presence. Besides working with Mega D, Gerson also successfully completed a vocal coach program with Mrs. C. Gittens. Which played a key role in the development of his voice. Being around people that always motivated him to do his best and pursue his dream, he started the journey of making his first album. Working at the Mega D Youth Foundation, Gerson has given various courses like Art Therapy. As a young upcoming artist Gerson has had the opportunity to perform locally and also outside of St. Eustatius in places like: Curacao, Bonaire, St. Maarten and Saba. He also took part in a movie filmed in Bonaire and won 1st place in the international interscholastic singing competition high school division in St. Maarten, once again making his family and friends very proud. As an ambitious young man Gerson plans on obtaining his Bachelor’s degree in Music Technology and starting his very own Media company, fulfilling his lifelong dream in the world of music, That from a very tender age caught his attention to the point of making music his life.
