Mo Green A brief biography We started Mo Green about 10 years ago in Temecula. We all love roots rock, Americana, if you will, and we've tried to develop our club sets around cover songs that have texture and great rhythm. We use percussion whenever possible as well as Acoustic guitars, mandolin, and an occasional Dobro. Our CD "Home" is our first compilation of original tunes and a step away from the 4-hour club/cover sets we've done in the past. We have since remixed the CD and added 3 additional songs and Renamed the CD “Home Again” We feel like we have "something to say" in our own words, in our own way. There are a lot of people in their 30's and 40's who grew up on rock, love rock, and still want to rock, but who can't stand the thought of listening to "Stairway to Heaven" one more time. Our generation is faced with a whole new set of issues and problems. We're not rebelling against ANYTHING. We all make money, have a house, 2 kids and a dog. Our IRA's and 401k's have done well, we all carry cell phones and are on the internet. And yet.........people seem to be walking around angrier than ever, more divorces than ever, perhaps more scared, more insecure, more empty. Road rage, Alcoholism, Violence.......Many of us just go through the motions and have lost touch with ourselves. We've become numb. That's what we're writing about. We don't want to save the world or become new spokesmen for our generation, we just want to be honest and share our music with anyone who is willing to listen. In an time where it seems that every song sounds alike we took great pains to not follow the masses and intentionally stayed away from using any formulas that might ensure commercial success. Our goal was to write music that was different and stood on its own. We have been told that our music gets better with every listening and have had fans wear out their CDs which we gladly replaced. Our songs are written by Al Oliveira and Kelly Bowlin, both come from very different places. Kelly's roots are from rural Kentucky, Appalachia, Bluegrass and folk music. Al's parents were Portuguese and he grew up in an apartment in Yonkers, street wise, full of Rhythm, New York Attitude. Take this unlikely combination, add 4 really good musicians, a crowd ready to rock and there you have it! On January 13, 2001 the Orange Country Register (Southern Cal’s 2nd largest paper) ran a near full page review of our new CD Home and called it a Solid Debut. The critic called the songs, "spirited, introspective and beautiful". We have played several sold out Showcases including the Bellyup Tavern (seats 650) and the Coach House (seats 450) and The Galaxy Theater with Jimmy Van Zant We have since headlined the Coach House and the Irvine Spectrum opening for Berlin and also at the Doheny Rock many other notables Reviews of our music include: “ Mo Green's music combines powerful sound with lyrics that seem to let you find something, you were always searchin' for! Listen to the songs takes you on a journey to each and every feeling you ever had - and you'll really feel "Home", as Mo Green's debut album is named. My personal favourite within Mo Green's songs is "Fate", it's the kind of music I'd like to call eternity rock! “ “ Laid back pseudo-country feel, modest, down to earth sound. Bongos in "Have It All" give it a 'jam band" kind of groove, but with more structure and dynamics. Mo Green gives you the opportunity to put your feet up and relax, cuz this music just gives you an understanding of the word bliss while rocking simultaneously. “ “In a giant sea of noise (mp3.com) it was quite refreshing to come across music as good as yours" P.S. "Fate" is a awesome song!“ Thanks for listening and please share your reviews and thoughts with us by clicking the feedback button at http://www.mogreen.com ........... -Mo Green -
