简介

The birth place of hip hop, Bronx, New York, spawned Godhead The General, one of the greatest MCs whose style can not be tracked as a "sound-alike" to any MC out there. Godhead The General is a Latin American born during the essence and rise of hip hop. He is a product of the 1980's, and proud of it, as he witnessed the beginning, the development and globalization of hip hop right in his own back yard. Godhead had incorporated elements of hip hop into his livelihood before the world had even embraced hip hop as a culture. From break dancing to eventually MCing, he learned that style and originality were vital if you wanted to stand out. Godhead The General comes from "the hardergrounds". A term that Godhead and his original crew Maniacal Madness used to described The Bronx, and later used this term to describe the rhyme style. It's underground, but with a harder edge. The Bronx in the 80's was rough. Every day was a struggle for Godhead's family and environment. While raised by the streets, as his mother did the best she could to take care of four boys on her own, poverty pushed Godhead to a world of criminality as a means for survival. When Godhead decided that music was what he wanted to do, "by any means necessary" became his mantra to make his way into the music industry. In his attempt to make money to start his music career, Godhead was incarcerated for drug charges on a mission in Pennsylvania. During his four years of incarceration, Godhead began to strategize how he would go about attacking the underground hip hop scene upon release from prison. He understood that as an ex-offender he would have to make his opportunities happen. He now serves as a mentor to many Philadelphia residents by showing them how to pursue their own destiny. Godhead started from the ground up upon his release from prison in 2001. From purchasing recording and beat making equipment [while living in a North Philadelphia halfway house], starting a CD duplication business, becoming a key member of a group of emcees who organized a weekly Thursday cipher, to ultimately becoming the brainchild for ThorTakeOver in 2006, when he took a cipher that started with 6 people in an apartment, which grew to 40 plus. This is when Godhead, and two other members of the cipher (Mekz One -Producer/MC, and Ahd Child-MC/Producer/Engineer, along with his wife/manager/publicist Sabina Diaz) decided to bring the movement to the club scene. ThorTakeOver is a music company, which resurrected the art of MCing in Philly. Godhead provoked Philly hip hop to change from the scene that was dominated by live bands and cliques of the "backpacker" style of hip hop. After exploring the music scene in Philly, he found that his style was not welcomed in many events. Godhead found his style to be different. His music had a harder edge, street conscious, lyrical, emotional, and so original that no one could say "he sounds like...". Godhead essentially created his own event as a means for himself to get noticed and to perform, while providing a platform for other under-represented emcees in Philly. Being that he was from New York, he had to create a name for himself in the underground hip hop scene in Philly. Hence, the movement called ThorTakeOver. ThorTakeOver is well respected amongst the underground hip hop community, from emcees, to promoters and fans. ThorTakeOver produces events with a cipher, producer showcase and live performances. ThorTakeOver also operates as a label, with Godhead managing and developing artists, producers, and providing strategic business guidance to the engineer and publicist, all while heading his own career. In July of 2006, Godhead joined with T.H.E (Tru Hip Hop Entity) to host The IIour Show from the WNJC studios in Southern New Jersey. The IIour Show features the hottest unsigned hip hop, r&b and spoken word artists from Philly, NY, NJ and beyond with the best classic hip hop e very Monday at 9PM on www.wnjc1360.com. Godhead has interviewed legends like DJ Red Alert and DMC of Run DMC and Kurtis Blow on his show with 1.5 million listeners world wide. Godhead The General has been featured in The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Philadelphia City Paper, interviewed on Rutgers University Radio after having his song "The Golden Age" from The Introduction EP appear number 2 after Nas in May of 2006. He has also been interviewed and has had his live performances featured on Enter The Zone, a local urban television show which features the hottest artists along with music videos. Godhead has helped many artists get television coverage in Philadelphia with Indikator, (director of Enter The Zone) in turn building publicity for Enter The Zone by providing the show with quality artists. Godhead continues to promote Enter The Zone on his radio show, and takes Indikator on the road to his shows and many ThorTakeOver shows. Godhead's electrifying performances have blessed the crowds of venues such as Medusa Lounge (Philly, PA); Fluid Night Club (Philly, PA); and The Pussycat Lounge (New York, New York), The Underground (Philly, PA), The Five Spot (Philly, PA) Fiso's (Philly, PA) and Liquid Charm (Philly, PA), The Pyramid Club (NYC),Memories Lounge (NJ) to name a few. He's performed with well known Philly artists such as Cee Knowledge AKA Doodlebug (Digable Planets), Chief Kamachi (Babygrande), Reef The Lost Cauze, Pumpkinhead, Camp Lo, and soon to open for Masta Ace, Killah Priest, Wise Intelligent, Rah Digga, and Wordsworth in September 2007. After years of positive, mental reconditioning, prayer, determination, and focusing on his music career, Godhead left the criminal world of hustling drugs behind. He now applies that same drug dealer's hustle mentality to the business of hustling his music career. Though he has a past, he still struggles to stay focused, and he feels his music reflects that struggle. Godhead wants to record and release his own music so he can reap the benefits of his hard work, ultimately landing a record deal. Godhead The General's story is the story of an artist who literally turned his life around through music, from a world of criminality. "Music changed my life, when at one time all I saw was death. Everyone has a voice. I would like mine to be heard as well. My consumers are underground hip hop heads and the streets as well. I believe my music appeals to both audiences. I rhyme about a lot of my thoughts, true to life situations, politics, the streets, deep mental over-your-head type lyrics, and sometimes I just bug out. I refuse to be classified as an emcee who sticks to only one theme or even one style or one flow. My music is thought provoking and compelling. My immediate music career goal is to take back NYC and pioneer Hip Hop to its next level!" Even though Godhead The General is O.T (Out of town) for a brief moment in Philly, this Bronx NYC bred emcee reps the hardergrounds to the fullest! Godhead is currently making a big name for himself on an east coast tour appearing in Philadelphia, New York City, New Jersey, Baltimore, D.C, Atlanta, Texas, Orlando, Rhode Island, and Boston, promoting his album The Introduction EP.
