On the musical genres of merengue and latin pop, Mamajuana is one of the most innovators attractives and exciting dominican artist. Conceived by Eddi Gonzalez, musical Director and leader of the group, who with his creativity and style to compose, arrange and produce merengue, tries to open new roads to this classical caribbean genre in the entire world. Mamajuana, more than a band of merengue, is a concept music that transports us to the ethnic legacy, a song to our ancesters combining a sensual lyric, funny, comtemporary, romanctic and fascinating. Mamajuana is a mixture of hypnotic rythms brought from the rich and diversed "Afro-Caribbean" musical culture existing in the Dominican Republic. Mamajuana had been nominated for best tropical band at Premios Lo Nuestro (Univision), Best New Dominican artist at Premios Casandra and Pre-nominated for the Grammy Awards 2004 as best Urban Album. Mamajuana was the first Dominican Band to ever perform and tour in China.
