State of Mind (extended play) Official Release Date : 8th December 2014 Label : Atomic Bass Records Genre : Drum & Bass Catalogue : ABR001DD Format : Digital Download (MP3) No. Of Tracks : 4 This extended play is from Haxby (a young DJ/Producer) from Newcastle that has shared the stage with many of todays influential D&B MixMasters. Atomic Bass Records are very proud to present his first ever release and showcase this exciting new talent. His influences are taken from a variety of sources such as Noisia, Rene Lavice and Hazard. Dilate This tracks starts with a synth line and a ride but steadily builds with a twisted bass sound then kicks with drums that instantly gets you moving. There is also a lot of atmosphere to this track that both builds and drops you. A male voice can be heard saying one word Dilate. A drum & bass roller track that has been a firm favourite with many of the scenes Djs. Crawling Walls Very nice pounding break starts this track off with a lot of sweet sounding atmosphere and effects. Definite Dj friendly intro that builds nicely and no time wasted on a drop the track rolls into a continuously whirling reece bass sound. Subtle voices can heard which helps the listener to drift into a haunted wonderland. There is definitely an influence from the hard-core breakbeat era that shows its DNA towards the end of the track. Constrict This track starts with heavily filtered BASS/SYNTH sound that seems to almost drill into the listener's brain. The intro drums seems to fast forward the track to a more structured pattern that seems bounce along till once again a filtered section. The bass growls with nothing too complicated but helps trance the listener helped by subtle backgrounds haunting effects. Coming Down Compared to the other tracks on this EP, Coming Down is a very calming almost Liquid track. With a mixture of a synth and piano keys in the intro. The bass drops with the drums with a rift guaranteed to lift the roof. This is a worthy inclusion to this collection of recordings as it shows the versatility of the artist HAXBY while keeping in step with other tracks already featured here.
