TallBoys are: Randy McGravey – Guitar, vocals, ukulele, percussion Brian McGravey – Bass, keyboards, vocals, harmonica, percussion Jared Ghioto – Drums, lead vocals Jon Loya – Bass, vocals, alto saxophone, percussion TallBoys started in the Spring of 2012 when the McGravey brothers met Jon in their school jazz ensemble at UMass Lowell. Jon had previously been in the band "Throwback" with his friend Jared Ghioto (Drummer/Lead vocals). Shortly after they listened to some of Jared's work online Jon got everyone together for a jam session at UMass Lowell. After Randy and Brian's band Sobra Kobra broke up temporarily that Spring, they were more than willing to start a new project with Jon and Jared especially after an exciting amount of chemistry formed from the first jam session in March of 2012. The name TallBoys was coined one day before an ensemble rehearsal when the boys opened up a 6 pack of tall beers. Once they heard Andrew Baptista refer to them as "tallboys" they thought that it would be a funny name for the group. Thus TallBoys were born. The foursome has since created songs which vary in style from funk to rock to reggae and even some jazz. The band has played countless venues in the New England area and continues to play a wide range of shows.
