简介
The Ericksons are sisters Bethany and Jennifer. Their compelling style of indie-folk music is rich with sounds from acoustic guitars and banjo that bring to life the duo’s stunning vocal harmonies. Growing up in the Midwest, the sisters developed a deep relationship with music at early ages. The Ericksons formally took shape in 2006 when Bethany and Jenny began performing at venues in and around New York City. Playing as often as they could, they continually wrote and gave life to new songs. Those songs soon became The Ericksons’ debut album Middle of the Night. In order to capture and present the raw purity of each song, they recorded the entire album live in a Brooklyn, NY basement studio, enlisting only an upright bass for backing. They sing of pain and love, death and life, darkness and light. This beautiful and haunting album showcases the duo’s soulful vocal melodies and honest songwriting. Since releasing Middle of the Night in 2008, The Ericksons played shows across the country. Touring and sharing their music fueled the arrival of new songs and the clear vision of a permanent return to their geographic roots. By 2010 The Ericksons reunited with the Midwest ready to bring to life a new creation. They entered Smart Studios in Madison in March where they recorded tracks that would become their sophomore record, don’t be scared, don’t be alarmed. Singing with conviction and gratitude for newness, trust, hope, and love, The Ericksons’ once again combine bold and original songwriting with their brilliant harmonies and trademark acoustic musicianship. Yet don’t be scared, don’t be alarmed also represents an evolution of the duo’s sound. It is a trust-filled opening of The Ericksons’ transformative music to an undercurrent of rhythm from percussion and electric bass, and a host of moving accents from organs, piano, and even electric guitar. The result is an album of creativity, integrity, beauty and truth that transcends musical genres. Before embarking on tours to share don’t be scared, don’t be alarmed, The Ericksons’ are proud to release the album in their new home town of Minneapolis in the fall of 2010.
