The Irish Youth Music Awards is a flagship programme of Youth Work Ireland. Youth Work Ireland is Irelands largest youth organisation/charity. We support over 109,000 young people their families and communities on a weekly basis through our network of over 150 projects and 340 youth clubs in communities all over Ireland. The principle aims of the programme is to nurture young people’s creativity and empower them to progress to further education and employment. The programme offers young people hands on experience in a number of roles from music and creative industries including PR, stage management and performance. Judging of the teams work throughout the programme is based on the entire team to include the band, the crew, to the promotion and approach to the programme. The overall recipient region receives recording time in a professional studio, and they produce an album of their own. Because the programme is entirely youth-led, the young people involved gain entrepreneurial and leadership skills while doing something they are passionate about. The performers on this year’s album are from County Louth the recipient region and the album also features one track from Laura Duff from County Limerick who won the Paul Clancy song writing award this year. This year’s album was recorded in Sun Studios in Temple Bar and was mastered by Richard Dowling at Wav Mastering.
