This smooth Jazz singer is often compared to Holly Cole. Winnipeg's smooth and sultry Jazz vocalist, Rosemarie Todaschuk, along with her impressive cast of local, national and international Jazz musicians, has been making a mark for herself in the area of Jazz. With Zen Zadravec on the piano, Nenad Zdjelar on contrabass, Sasha Boychouk on saxophones and Owen Clark on drums and percussion, Rosemarie shares the excitement with the release of her debut Jazz CD "Come Dance With Me". Rosemarie's unique style and interpretation provides an infectious blend of classic standards with original music. Rosemarie has gained winning respect locally for interpreting the personal pulse of welcomed favourites with her velvety vocals. Her dynamic stage presence and infectious blend of jazz and classic standards has captured noteworthy applause for the Rosemarie Todaschuk Trio. Facets of their repertoire consist of jazz and classic standards inspired by some of the jazz greats of all time which include Cole Porter, Billie Holiday, Richard Rogers, Sammy Cahn, Ira and George Gershwin, as well as Van Morrison. From former stages at Windows Lounge and the Pan Am Games to today's venues over at the annual Jazz Winnipeg Festival, Lounges at the Fort Garry Hotel and the Casinos, the International Wine Festival, Mardi Jazz, Leo Mol Sculpture Gardens, and the Winnipeg Art Gallery as well as many outdoor Summer Concerts, Festivals, Charities, Corporate Galas, and, of course, various private functions...the Rosemarie Todaschuk Trio has become a recognized signature in celebrating Jazz. Audiences are also immediately attracted to their variety of jazz, standards & blues! Rosemarie studied vocal performance at York University where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Specialized Honours) in Music. She has captured audiences throughout North America and in Ukraine singing with her sister, Charlene, as the Todaschuk Sisters and promoting their four well-received recording albums. With her extensive background in dance, Rosemarie is thrilled to be featured as a dancer in the movie "Shall We Dance" starring Richard Gere & Jennifer Lopez filmed in the summer of 2003. Rosemarie is a Music and Theatre Arts teacher in Seven Oaks School Division who also enjoys performing in various musicals at Rainbow Stage and the former Hollow Mug, as well as singing the Canadian and American anthems for many events and sports organizations like the Blue Bombers for many seasons. Backed by a host of international musicians, including pianist Zen Zadravec, string bassist Nenad Zdjelar, saxophonist Sasha Boychouk and percussionist Owen Clark, Todaschuk effortlessly blends her velvety vocals overtop cool instrumentals to create a unique take on Come Dance With Me's infectious jazz interpretations. With three Todaschuk Sisters albums behind her, Rosemarie and her sister Charlene are known worldwide for their take on traditional, contemporary and original Ukrainian songs. No stranger to Winnipeg audiences, Rosemarie's voice, carrying the Canadian and American national anthems, launched many successive seasons of Blue Bomber football and Goldeyes baseball home games. Rosemarie Todaschuk is a classically trained vocalist and pianist. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Specialized Honours) in Music from York University, where she studied vocal performance. She also has a strong background in musical theatre, regularly performing in the past at Rainbow Stage and the former Hollow Mug. Currently, she teaches Music and Theatre Arts to elementary and middle school students in Seven Oaks School Division in Winnipeg.
