When I was getting ready to start thinking about college (back in the late 70's), my parents asked me what I wanted to do when I grow up. I told them I wanted to be a recording engineer. They told me I didn't want to that and that I should get an engineering degree like my older brother. He graduate with a EE degree and got multiple job offers when he graduated 4 years ahead of me. So I let them talk me out of it and went to U of I, got a EE degree myself, married my high school sweetheart, went to work in the utility business, raised a family, got a nice house and put the kids through college but never pursued my passion. Now, decades later, I wrote a few songs and finally decided to take a shot at recording, producing and performing some original music. So this project is literally on my "Bucket List". It gave me an opportunity to work with some amazing local talent (Dave Yott- Drums, Bob Lynch-Keys, Nelson Wynn-Pedal Steel, Rick Crane-Bass/Harmonica, Chris Grove-Keys, Al Joseph-Fiddle, Sharon Pope and Dawanda Reeves-Backup Vocals). Also got to work with an amazing picker out of Nashville (Chuck Ward-Electric Guitars). It gave me an opportunity to collaborate with my good friend Amber Rose on an original song (There She Goes) written for my daughter Michelle's wedding. Bucket List gave me a chance to work with a great engineer (John Huber-the Spot Studio) who not only did a great job in the studio, but was patient, efficient and taught me a ton about Protools along the way. I overdubbed the Pedal Steel, Fiddle and back-up vocals in my basement then did the final mixing and mastering back at the Spot with John. All in all, it was a great experience, had a blast doing it, learned a lot and can't wait to do it again. I hope you enjoy listening to it even a fraction as much as I did making it.
