简介

Having been touched by the anointing of the "Rooftop" Series and enjoying their festival appearances, this release is much anticipated. It doesn't disappoint! Maintaining a loose, musically improvised feel, this has a high quality bootleg sound - raw but never muggy! Tony's self-styled brand of electric folk takes various elements of roots music and fuses them together into a powerful and anointed whole. Sometimes it sounds like Santana, sometimes like Johnny Cash or T Bone Burnett but always it's Tony Loeffler. His choice of covers is impeccable and surprising, a wonderful bluesy take on Dylan's "Willie McTell", including a wonderfully understated sax solo from Linda Salisbury is excellent. Equally good is his Loefflerisation of Julie Miller's "All My Tears" and Glen Kaiser's "Lord of All" - both stonking cuts. If like me you enjoy Tony's songwriting, you'll be pleased to see old favorites "Finish Line" and "See The Valley" making a welcome return in new clothes much changed from previous incarnations and musically fresh. My favorite is the extended blues of "INRI". With three percussionists on duty, allot of this stuff has real punch and John Zarra and John Concepcion's guitar work is top class. For variety, you get a soulful "Sitting Here In Limbo" and a rootsy "I Shall Not Be Moved" polarizing the performances recorded here. Still anointed. "Bootleg Live" does the business. NINE STARS OUT OF TEN, Mke Rimmer, Croosrhythms, UK Bootleg Live is a collection of music performed live by the original “Tony Loeffler and The Blue Angels". Anyone knowing the Blue Angel sound will really appreciate listening to this CD. Original members: Bob Ferrainolo on drums, Karen Sibilia on acoustic guitar and BGV's, Wayne Scott Farely on lead guitar and BGV's, John Zarra on lead guitar and mandolin, Joe Brennan on percussion and blues harp, Jimmy Medina on percussion, John Hess on bass guitar, Tony Loeffler of acoustic guitar and lead vocals, Linda Salisbury on sax, and John Concepcion on keys and electric guitar. A great sound!
