简介
Born in 1987, Rob Byrne was raised in the working class area of Tallaght, Dublin. At age 12 he began penning his own rap tunes under the name Nu-Centz, a name given to him by his mother due to his constantly unpredictable and annoying behaviour. Time passed, and although experience was gained and his impressive reputation and listenership was rapidly increasing, Nuie (a nickname given to him by a fellow emcee that stuck with fans) was unhappy with his sound, and more so- his direction. Fast forward a couple of years; Nu-Centz and Rawsoul had become a largely respected duo within the Hip-Hop scene in Ireland. Never one to care what anybody else thinks, Nuie makes commercial and radio friendly music which appeals to him, and appeals to listeners in Ireland on a larger scale then most of the rappers in the country. The combination of slick punchlines with an impeccable flow & delivery makes Nu-Centz a hard act to follow both on CD and live. Never one to turn down an opportunity to further himself and collaborate with other artist's he respects, you can find Nu-Centz appearing on the albums of some of the country’s top MC's. Further collaborations have been previously recorded with Mark McCabe, (Irish number 1 for 10 weeks) Wordsworth (MTV Lyricist Lounge Show) and Craig G (Juice Crew, NY hip-hop pioneer). Although he loves hanging around the studio, Nuie also has a very impressive live CV. After playing most big venues in the country, including 'The Point Depot' in support of Cascada & Beatfreakz, 'The Village' supporting Public Enemy & 'The Vaults' supporting Skinnyman, ‘Tripod’ supporting D12 & ‘The Academy’ supporting Asher Roth- not to mention a huge amount of headline gigs him. Expect any gig with the name Nu-Centz name attached to be a party not worth missing, and an after party you won’t be remembering! Nu-Centz: Half man, half session! Raw = 1) Brutally or grossly frank: a raw portrayal of human passions. 2) In the natural, uncultivated, or unrefined state: nature in the raw. Soul = 1) The principle of life, feeling, thought, and action in humans, regarded as a distinct entity separate from the body, and commonly held to be separable in existence from the body; the spiritual part of humans as distinct from the physical part. 2) Deeply felt emotion, as conveyed or expressed by a performer or artist. Louis Westwater (aka Rawsoul) produces and engineers the majority of this duo's music, as well as rapping and the odd bit of singing. Born in Hackney, London (where he lived for 11 years), this lyricist somehow ended up spending his teenagehood in the rural outskirts of Mullingar, Ireland, where the quiet environment became the perfect spot to piece together a studio and spend days upon days recording. Since then, he has become part of the Dublin super-crew "Class A'z" with Redzer (Coolock), Nu-Centz (Tallaght) and Terawrizt (Beaumount). As well as the Hot Property album with Nu-Centz, he is working on a solo CD that will be available late in 2010. A normal everyday guy, Louis loves a few beers, sometimes a few vodkas, and more often than not, a few tequilas followed by a goldschlager. Sometimes this works out well for him, sometimes it doesn't, but in the midst of all this partying and working, the music keeps on dragging him back, which tends to leave him in situations where he has to write long essays about himself in the third person- all in an attempt to sell albums. Hopefully it works :)
