简介
The long awaited album of John & Kate, a popular local duo performing in Mobile, Alabama with original songs, beautifully blending their diverse backgrounds. John & Kate are; John David Anthony ; John started Piano Lessons at the age of 6. Violin followed at the age of 9, which led him to play with the Mobile Junior Symphony in High School. When he saw "Elvis", then the "Beatles" on TV, he thought, "That's what I want to do when I grow up". John played guitar in his first "band" when he was 14. Then he saw "Jerry Lee Lewis" and decided to switch to piano. Along with the Junior Symphony, he played in a band called the "Vanguards". They played every weekend at a place called "Johnson's Lake". After High School, they changed the band name to "Sons of Creation" and entered the "Dick Clark Battle of the Bands". Representing Alabama, they placed 3rd out of 50 bands. The following year, John met a fellow musician Lewis Ross, who played drums and they decided to start a "new band". Jack and Jimmy Hall followed on bass, and vocals. While holding auditions for lead guitar, Richard Hirsch, who had just graduated from the Univ. of Alabama, showed up, and decided Dentistry was not for him ....wise decision! That band turned into "Wet Willie" and the rest is history. Kathryn Linda West; An Australian girl, born and bred, Kate started her career by singing into her hairbrush during her earliest years. A the impressionable age of 14, Kate got a gig as female lead singer in a local garage band with some guys down the road. Entertaining at school socials and soccer presentations started her on a journey from classic rock and 80s pop in backyard bands to easy listening lounge music in a synthesized duo touring pubs and clubs in Sydney, to show tunes in cabaret productions, and back again to rock bands until the late 90s. During several years of domesticated bliss, Kate has taken time to enjoy more mellow rhythms. The different influences of music genres in her life have matured and blended into what’s best described as Sophisti-Pop, now masterly crafted with co-writer John Anthony. John & Kate met in 2009 and immediately found a common music interest. John plays at The Battlehouse, A Renaissance Hotel in downtown Mobile, Alabama most nights, with Kate guest staring once a month. They play a variety of jazz, pop and rock blues, along with their unique Sophisti-pop originals. This album is the result of several years working and playing together, and is the best blend of their new sound. Appealing to all age groups, with wholesome subjects but mature sounds. It's a great album for driving on a romantic get away, or sipping coffee on your lazy Sunday morning. Enjoy!
