We are delighted to announce the return of Focus Puller with this striking and original EP. Over the years, long-term Cubism collaborator Mike Healey has built a reputation among serious tastemakers for consistently delivering tracks that have an intriguing and unusual quality. Loosely defined as somewhere between Tech House and Deep Techno, Healey's compositions have a musicality and emotive edge that mean his tracks have dance-floor appeal and home-listening pleasure in equal measure. From early DJ magazine reviews that described Healey as One to Watch, Record of the Week on Fergies Radio 1 show, and a few Essential Mix plays for good measure, to more recent excursions at the much admired Fabric London, we arrive at Healeys Focus Puller alias, and proof that his own unique style continues to evolve in blissful ignorance of current trends. The title track, combining a relentless, analog Bass hook with subtle chimes and interference, explores what we might hear if some unknown alien race responded to SETI deep-space transmissions. The result is an emotive, thought-provoking track that has ample grit and groove for the dance floor. Feed the Pony is an early-set chugger that combines a solid groove with a constantly evolving scape of builds and drops. A tried and tested tool that has earned the approval of the hardiest of taste-seekers at Fabric. Me Time really showcases Healeys arrangement skills. Succulant, broken percussive sounds drive a tough kick and a liquid bassline towards a midsection that evokes memories of early Depeche Mode.
