简介

Born in the late 70’s in Rock Island, Illinois “west end,” Tyrone grew up surrounded by music. In church he sang in the choir, in school he battled playground mc’s at recess, and at home his ears were almost always being streamed with a steady diet of R & B and blues from the jukebox that was inside the bar across the street. Tyrone observed very early the connection between music and human emotion. He was fascinated by the way people were profoundly affected by rhythms, melodies, harmony and poetry. Every Tyrone song is fueled by a desire to transfer ideas, emotions, and insight through song. From sensual and sultry slow jams (Don't Be a Stranger) to chest thumping club anthems (Whachonameis) to a straight from the gut, soulful proclamation of a man’s will to succeed (Street Life w/LOC). Tyrone represents a new era of soul singers; meaning no matter what shape (genre) the song takes, the emotion and energy of the song is palpable in your soul. There are several influences on Tyrone’s take on music but probably most significant are Sam Cooke and B.B. King. “ I’ve always admired the timbre of Sam Cooke’s voice, the way he could transition from a smooth and full sound, to airy and gritty and do it seamlessly”. “ I love B.B. King because no matter what was happening with popular music, B.B. stuck to what he loved and was always able to draw crowds and sell a lot of records. His audience changed several times over, but he basically stayed the same. Not many musicians can say the same so, you’ve got to respect that”. Other musical influences range from Ella Fitzgerald, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Will Downing, Mary J. Blige, and Jill Scott to the Geto Boys, Tupac, Street Military, UGK, and many artists who are not as well known. On Stage Tyrone is Savvy and confident without being cocky. He brings an air of familiarity to his show that can make a total stranger feel like part of his family. His songs mainly focus on situations and circumstances that are common to us all ; joy and pain, love, hate and indifference. If you get a chance to check out his music, recorded or live, PLEASE do. I’m sure that you’ll agree Tyrone is the real deal. When it comes to soul music He is as good as they come.
