As the opening track of this EP states...so lets be clear...collaboration is not always easy. When you work together in the spirit of a common goal sometimes it’s MAGICAL though often times arduous. Filled with stops and starts. Pitfalls and breakthroughs. And because of those inherent snags, real magic is very difficult. There will be some who have witnessed my prodigious work ethic first hand and say I make it look easy. But that’s because I’m from The Zola school of productivity; “If I cannot overwhelm with my quality, I will overwhelm with my quantity.” And, if I may add to that...whatever your aspiration is -- just do the damn thang already! It is my belief that there is something to marvel at in the world when talented artists work together. Quality controls are automatically put in place. Ideas effortlessly click. And somewhere in the process, the magic finally makes its appearance. The combination of vocalists, rappers, visual artists, and even dancers on this record led to something greater. A higher achievement called Garagepop Mechanics! My “Mechanics” are a group of GENIUS performers who entrusted me to drive the bus on this crazy road trip of beats and hooks. The album began as a ‘what-if’ fantasy of bringing together a collective of premier talent in the genres represented on the dance floor. I have been privileged in my lifetime to witness the evolving art forms of Techno, Electronica, Hip Hop, Downbeat, and Dancehall. And since my youth I envisioned composing for an assemblage containing it all! And now FINALLY that time is here. Let me say a very special thank you to Nicole Vandestienne. Her unflappable patience accommodatingly endured an endless cavalcade of troubadours as her dining room had been turned into a giant recording booth.
