简介
The duo Push-button Pleasure comprise multi-instrumentalists Terry Burrows and Mark Beaumont. They graduated from the bedroom cassette scene to produce two highly regarded vinyl LPs, of which The Vast Difference was the first. Burrows would later assume the monicker Yukio Yung under which guise he fronted 1990s international cult psychedelic pop favourites, The Chrysanthemums. He would go onto record albums with lo-fi pioneer R. Stevie Moore and industrial legend Asmus Tietchens. He would later become a prolific, million-selling author. He continues to record and perform, largely in the experimental music field, as a solo artist or as part of the noise/drone trio Tonesucker. Beaumont assumed the identity of Melvyn Z. Pad, and recorded one heavily praised synthpop album as Enski Boski, and a later ambient electronic album as Berbel Nobodius. The album was recorded in weekend sessions over the course of 18 months at Beaumont's studio in Ipswich, UK, and mixed at Burrows' studio in London. The music is an unusual mix of electronic and acoustic sounds. Although the duo emerged from the experimental scene, The Vast Difference is heavily melodic, with both the piano and harmonium well to the fore in their compositions. "A desert of barren sparseness suddenly turns into a jungle of intense activity, making for an interesting album". Andy Hurt, Sounds (UK) [4 stars out of 5] "A rather marvellous soundtrack to a film that has never been made. To the listener who can appreciate such things they will all, in turn, make their own videos of the mind. The pictures may change from each playing yet the images will never fade away. It's the kind of record you just can't live without". Trev Faull, Outlet Magazine (UK) "A peculiar, melancholy blend of the electronic and the acoustic". The Star (UK) "The Vast Difference är experiment från det sköne till det skråmmande. Men mer melodism är totalt kaos". Slitz (Sweden)
