Since the success of the SAPOL Dixieland Band's first CD back in 1994, listeners have been waiting anxiously for its sequel. And so, after countless hours of rehearsing (sometimes as early as 7.30 am to fit in with the bands demanding schedule) a mini bus loaded with musicians and instruments trundled out of the gates of the Thebarton Police Barracks. The destination was an old court room in Sturt Street transformed into a recording studio, and the day was a cold, wet, miserable morning in March. After a few hours of setting up and sound checking, the voice of the engineer came through the musicians headphones with the long awaited instruction “tape's rolling”. Some seven hours later, mentally exhausted but thoroughly satisfied, the same musicians loaded the bus and headed for home having exceeded expectations and completed ten tracks for the CD. A second date was organised to return to the studio, and on the 27th of August the final tracks were laid to bring to completion the second of the band's CD's “A FEW MORE BARS”. Sit back, and enjoy!
