This is album #4, and as it happens, 4 years in the making...and also, a lifetime--I've been writing music since I was 11 yrs old. My mom tells the story, however embarrassing, of me running down the hall, dripping wet from the shower, with only a towel, to sit at the piano and get down a tune in my head. It's a true story. From the shower, or dreams, in the car, on a rock by a stream...the music I write comes through me, often without warning. A majority of the time, the song appears, as you hear it on the album, the way it came into my head the first time. Of course, it takes months, even years to translate the version in my head to disc...but what you hear is pure and not contrived, regardless of the number of acoustic/electronic embellishments. What matters to me is YOU. In one sense, if no one ever heard my music, I would still write and play and sing...in the same way someone on a desert island might talk to a tree; in another sense, what I'm really striving for is communication -- to say something that matters. That's the human condition isn't it? That we long for connection, to be heard or seen; to know we are not alone. So that is my hope: that my music communicates something meaningful...to someone else, and that what I'm communicating validates or makes you...me...a better person; the world a better place.
