Faith and action. Those two words neatly sum up Becca Bradley’s debut EP “Shaken,” which will be released on April 29, 2014. At 22 years old, Becca is on a journey of faith, following the Lord’s calling on her life. Living in Nashville, TN, Becca is a recent graduate of Belmont University and is currently a member of Francesca Battistelli’s band. However, her whirlwind schedule has not deterred her from pursuing her own musical dreams. “Making this album is something the Lord has had on my heart for a long time,” she explains. Becca’s musical journey began with piano lessons at age six. By the age of eight, cello became her primary instrument. Though she excelled in multiple classical groups, Becca soon found that classical music was not an effective outlet for her creativity. It wasn’t until her freshman year of college that she took her first songwriting class. “The songs I wrote for my class were terrible,” Becca laughed. “I had no idea what I was doing, but I loved it! I was finally able to do something with the creativity God had given me, and I knew that I had found my calling.” For Becca, the songwriting process always begins with prayer. Each song carries a message of passionate worship and relationship, both in her lyrics and her melodies. “Whenever I listen to music I find myself listening as a songwriter, finding new inspiration anywhere and everywhere. I can find something I appreciate about almost any style of music, and that inevitably makes its way into my writing” Becca explains. This undoubtedly gives her music a truly unique and refreshing sound, breathing new life into the hearts of her listeners. Becca’s testimony and life experience play an important role in her songs. “It wasn’t until college that I came to know the Lord. In some ways, it was a big blessing to come to Christ at an older age, because I can see such a clear before and after in my life. A lot of my songs are really reflective of that contrast.” From her lyrics to her voice to her bright smile, the joy of the Lord is evident in Becca’s life, and she wants to share what she has found with the world. Ultimately, Becca’s hope for her music is to shake up the way people live their lives. “We as Christians need to wake up. Jesus tells us that the world should know us by our love, but what are we doing to show them? We need to not just listen to the Word, but do what it says. My prayer is that the Lord would come and shake each one of us out of our comfort zones.” “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” - John 13:35
