简介
Misty Aeons is still being understood. So far, it appears to be a collective moniker for a collaborative recording project started in late 2008 by Caleb Neubauer, their principal songwriter and aspiring audio engineer. Since then, his music has been created with help from dozens of talented musicians in both live and (drifting) studio environments. While their work is suffused with a haze of indie rock, folk, and chamber pop textures and cinematic spectacle, Misty Aeons is purposefully open-ended in arrangement and primarily focused on conceptual and imaginative lyricism, diverse instrumentation, and ambitious production. Their first full-length LP Selves was released on August 28, 2014, and was preceded by an accompanying Delve EP on June 26, 2014. An “exquisite album … Selves is a graceful collision of lush chamber-pop and precious indie-folk, plus occasional nods to Sigur Ros’ sky-scraping ambiance. The result is a work that soars with confidence, and is at times breathtaking.“ Musicians featured on these releases include Marta Andelson (voice, flute), Justin Carter (guitar), Jacob Cohn (voice, guitar, banjo), Tom Earnest (bass), Vadim Fainberg (guitar), Katie In (voice, guitar), Drew Johnson (drums), Vincent Kelley (drums, percussion), Ethan Kenvarg (guitar, drums), Andy Keyes (alto saxophone), Michael Maiorana (piano), Julia Marquez-Uppman (cello), Leah Meyer (voice, violin, fiddle), Caleb Neubauer (voice, piano, guitar, vibraphone, mandolin, keyboards, singing bowls, percussion, accordion, celesta, marimba, drum programming), Ian Neubauer (bass), Luke Panciera (trumpet), Sami Rebein (violin), Arthur Richardson (trombone), Karin Stein (Charango), Laurel Tuggle (harp), and Jacob Ziontz (viola); additional collaborative arrangements by Erik Jarvis (brass quintet), Yang West (voice harmony), and Chloe Yates (voice harmony).
