Sister Nancy got her start in music on the now legendary Jah Love Sound System in Jamaica, featuring selector Ilawi, and her brothers Jeremiah and Brigadier Jerry. Sister Nancy’s “Bam Bam” (produced by Winston Riley for his Techniques label) still bumps out of cars and jeeps all over New York City over 25 years after its release. Produced by djmush1 (Slackers/Scorchers/Top Shotta Band/Hungry March Band/Tunnel One Radio WNYU/When Dance Was Nice/Al Paragus Productions), Sister Nancy Meets Fireproof is a modern musical statement in the rub-a-dub dancehall style. Fireproof, a combination of seasoned New York musicians and new personalities on the reggae scene, plays rockers and rocksteady music with a traditional and rootsy feeling. In the early aught’s, Fireproof quickly became one of New York’s leading rockers music ensembles, through their weekly residency at Brooklyn’s Stinger Club, as well as performances throughout the New York metropolitan area. Sister Nancy Meets Fireproof is an album of dual features. Side A is a rub-a-dub soundsystem extravaganza, showcasing all new lyrics by one of Jamaica’s greatest female deejays. Side B is the dub side, with slower, horn-laden instrumental versions of the riddums of Side A. The original woman deejay leads the way, musically!
