This CD is a collection of compositions written from 2007-2011 recorded from April 19-20th of 2011. These pieces are influenced by the late piano etudes of Gyorgy Ligeti and the player piano pieces of Conlon Nancarrow. As globalization continues to affect the direction of art (and music in particular) the use of machinery to produce music is becoming more pervasive in contemporary composition. This collection is a conscious decision to write music that was tailor made for the modern-era player piano – the disklavier. Many of these pieces also use algorithmic procedures facilitated with the use of computer software.
