简介

[no art, disc only] When asked to write a Christmas song for a film, Canadian singer/songwriter Monica Schroeder came up with something surrounding the themes she likes to sing about and wrote a song called “Won’t be Home for Christmas”. “I had no idea of what could possibly be said about Christmas that hadn’t already been said. So I thought about my niece and what I would say to her, knowing that I wouldn’t be making it back home for Christmas this year”. When the song was submitted for the movie, Monica was asked if it was possible to flip the tone of the song to indicate a more positive outcome – “and can you make it more sparkly?” Always up for a challenge, Monica re-recorded the song with different lyrics and a little ‘sparkle’. In the end, they didn’t use either track - so now you have two songs. ‘Home for Christmas’ – ‘Won’t be Home for Christmas’… and you get to decide. There are only a limited number of CDs pressed with these songs - when they're sold out here, its digital purchase only. Highlights •Monica Schroeder’s newest CD ‘So Far’ was nominated for “Outstanding Pop Recording" at the 2007 Western Canadian Music Awards. •This past summer, Monica released ‘So Far’ on the U.S. indie label A Different Drum and Now Magazine gave it a ‘NNNN’ rating: “There's a lot to like here, especially for soft rock radio types, but a few tracks, including the Stars-ish ‘City Lights’, could win over the indie set, too.” •‘So Far’ is available at CBC radio libraries across the country and you can listen to the songs ‘City Lights’, ‘November’ & ‘Last Song’ any time. •The song ‘Peace’ was included in the DVD release of ‘Dawson’s Creek – Season 6 and ‘Joan of Arcadia’ – Season 2. Several of her songs have also been licensed for television, including NBC, HBO, Lifetime & APTN. •Since her first independent recording, Monica has shared the stage with artists such as Jane Siberry, Ron Sexsmith and Kathleen Edwards, and has played at SXSW, Canadian Music Week and clubs across the country. She has also been featured nationally in magazines like Billboard & Maclean's and been played on radio stations across North America, including the CBC, XM satellite radio and on the National Public Radio show “All Things Considered”.
