简介

John Jennings has worked as producer for a remarkable and heralded list of contemporary singer/songwriters, including Mary Chapin Carpenter, John Gorka, Janis Ian, Catie Curtis, Tracy Grammer, Bill Morrisey and John McCutcheon. He has played guitar on recordings for such icons as George Jones, indigo girls, Kathy Mattea and Iris Dement, among many others, and performs as a soloist, and with Ms. Carpenter. Jennings has released four cd's of his own, and has been called “the consummate pro” by Lyle Lovett, and “a genius” by novelist Ann Patchett. His latest offering, “More Noise From Nowhere,” was recorded over a period of several months at his studio. It features authoritative performances of ten new songs, featuring Jon Carroll, Don Dixon and Dave Mattacks on 8 of the 10 tracks. Jennings has long maintained a solid international reputation as a producer and instrumentalist, and has been called "Washington DC's best songwriter" in Billboard magazine. He has been nominated for several Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year for "He Thinks He'll Keep Her," and has won more than a dozen Washington Area Music Awards over the years. About Four: “Jennings new release…is easily his best yet, a varied set of songs that shows off his ability to shine in any setting...Anyone with the slightest appreciation for melody and musical ability will, to put it succinctly, adore Four.” Lee Zimmerman, Entertainment News and Views About I Belong To You: “If you can’t find anything here to like, seek help.” Rusty Russell, Music Row Magazine “Jennings is a gifted storyteller whose knack for poignant narrative detail invites comparisons to songwriters Lyle Lovett, John Hiatt and Hal Ketchum…a truly remarkable recording.” Rick Petreycik, Country Music Magazine About Buddy: “A distinctive picker with an Everyman voice, Jennings has a fine eye for lyrical detail…” David Zimmerman, USA Today (3 ½ stars) “…guitar with a style that can be described as unassuming, yet impressive enough to stop you in your tracks…” Deborah Malarek, No Depression
