Andrew Ehrenzeller may be one of the best kept secrets in Christian music. He has been unleashing modern psalms for many years but has not had a public release with this much backing before. His past albums have been what some would consider “rough cuts” that are some of my favorite albums of all time because they carry with them a raw and ernest feel that often gets edited out when a producer or studio gets a hold of an album. Children of Promise features some of Andrew’s best vocal work to date. His voice is unique and somehow familiar all at the same time. He sings from a place of knowing and none of the lyrics are contrived. This album doesn’t have a boring moment and the additional harmonies by Mary Kat (Andrew’s wonderful wife) add a layer of fragility and beauty to songs like “Set my Love.” The singles on this album are plentiful and each could carry an album all by itself. The last thing to note is that Andrew’s music really does bring the listener closer to God. Jesus Culture is blessed to have both Andrew and Mary Kat who both bring a heart for Jesus that is undeniable and exciting.
