简介
Gigaherz was officially released on January 10, 2010 and is Origo Sound's first new release in a few years. We are proud to release this expanded edition of a previous download-only album. Gigaherz is a beautiful digipack presentation, features an 8-page booklet with designs by Kimmo Heikkilä, and 15 tracks of which some are previously unreleased. Gigaherz is the band's 7th original album (10th if you count live albums), with material composed mostly in 1996-97 and recorded over a period of years, but mixed, remixed and expanded for this release. Gigaherz. Says founding member Ami Hassinen about the theme of the album; "The nature is a very important issue to all of us. And the recent developments concerning the changes in climate makes one think quite a bit. Actually, I have no worries about the fate of the planet, as everything finds its balance in due course, but will there be any human beings left to witness it? I don´t know. For the mankind, I am sure that the next 100 years will be an increasingly challenging time. After that I think people will be already adapted to the constant change, more or less, but there's surely hard times ahead for most countries in the world. Hopefully we'll learn something in the process? Musically, this inspired us to tell a story about the Earth in audio format." Playing time 76:52. Professionally mastered and pressed. Nemesis is a Finnish duo who composes and plays music in the electronic and ambient field. Nemesis is Ami Hassinen (synths, guitar, bass, sound effects), Jyrki Kastman (synths, keyboards, effects) and Joni Virtanen (keyboards, synths - he joined after the recording of this album). Ami and Jyrki started making music together in the mid-80s, after having been exposed to science fiction, astronomy and the music of certain artists. In 1994 they secured their first record deal; Xcelsior became the first electronic/ambient record from Finland to be released internationally. Joni joined the band in 2001. As a band, Nemesis is inspired by nature, science, astronomy, childhood stories about UFOs and ghosts, science fiction movies, visual art, and of course other musicians and bands, such as Kraftwerk, Can, Tangerine Dream, Neu, Jean Michel Jarre, Jimi Hendrix, Beatles, Hawkwind, Brian Eno, Robert Rich, Steve Roach and others. The core of Nemesis' music has always included the key elements melody, atmosphere and landscape. In composing, they use collective improvisation, a technique inspired by the legendary Can in the 1970s. The band aims at a fresh and updated sound where electronic music of the past shakes hand with contempory technology and styles. Reviews: Dave Law / SMD: "It is amazing that even though these tracks were recorded over an eight-year period they still manage to hold together as a wonderfully balanced self contained album. Nemesis don’t do mediocre. This is a stonking album that should be in every Nemesis fan’s collection." Alvaro, Spain: "I have enjoyed very much the album, specially the second part [...] I would also like to mention the excellent production and the superb artwork and packaging." Jon Aanensen / PlanetOrigo.com: "...fans of more experimental/retro music will probably find much to enjoy here. I can only hope that some of these tracks will grow on me, and I think it's a good chance they will."
