Hammerhead began as Tyler Robson's solo side project to a Portland based indie rock band. Andrew Harrison joined that band in early 2015, which lead to Robson asking Harrison to produce a Hammerhead EP in the fall of 2015. Harrison, having written many solo folk songs himself, realized he wanted to contribute to the EP, and Hammerhead quickly transformed into a duo and started to play shows around the Portland area. Hammerhead came onto the local Portland folk-scene in the Spring of 2016, releasing their EP Broken Poetry and Melatonin. They received notable attention right away, securing 3rd best folk band in Willamette Week's 2016 Best of Portland readers' poll. Since then, Hammerhead has continued playing shows all over the Pacific Northwest and touring the west coast, blending their folk influences with elements of rock, psych, pop, and 'emo' music, ultimately culminating in a live performance that is surprisingly hard-hitting and powerful for a two-piece; their signature being that they play all the percussion between the two of them with their feet as they play and sing. Hammerhead is releasing a series of singles in 2017 and 2018, beginning with 'Way Back When' - expect beautiful harmonies, meaningful lyrics, and soaring guitar solos, all filtered through two guys who love music but don't take themselves too seriously.
