简介
Willie Chappell has written a big bunch of poems, some published, some not yet published. He fearlessly tackles all sorts of styles and genres. Classical sonnet forms rub happily against free forms. An unabashed lover of words, even big words or made-up ones, he seems to come up with the right ones. He quite appreciates the value of every day life, its joys and tensions. Chappell's war experiences provide insight to current military/political events. A thoughtful poet, he. R. D. Ward's eclectic electronic music on this CD is rather old-fashioned; he does not avoid funny old things like melody and harmony. He borrows freely and without apology from neo-Romantic through minimilastic procedures. A balanced mixture of consonace and dissonance is heard on this CD. Ward has composed/arranged a healthy stack of music ranging from hymn tune arrangements for chorus to bloop bleep squeak squawk original music for brass and percussion. The reader on most of the poems is David C.Ward, the talented actor/businessman son of R.D. Ward. David was used because he's good and he's free. The art work was wonderfully accomplished by Jeremy Witt, artist/photographer. His stuff, like Willie's and R. D.'s, is a happy mixture of the contemplative and the bold in-your-face.
