CHECK OUT THE NEW ALBUM, 4 YEARS LATER!!! www.cdbaby.com/awol newberry aka: stepdaddy dob: 1/27/78 born: lakewood,ca style of music: lyricism/battlerap The wit of Jay Z the illness of Redman the delivery of Busta Rhymez all in 1 the name stepdaddy began in 1994 for a 16 year old brian newberry when he began messing around freestyling just making people laugh. the definition of stepdaddy is that he know he's not the first but the better replacement that comes through giving total satisfaction in every aspect. an 18 year old stepdaddy joined the u.s. army subjecting him to various cultures and hip hop styles from across the country. in june 1998 he was involved in a near fatal car wreck that hospitalized him for two months. the outcome of the incident gave him a new outlook on life and stepdaddy became more complete as an artist. in april 1999 stepdaddy completed an album of songs written in the prior two years titled "raw". it was a collection of ten songs that was mostly raw lyricism and battlerap. although the majority of those who heard the album gave it praise it was never released. stepdaddy did sell a few out of the trunk of his car but he was not satisfied with it. he felt it was incomplete as to the diversity and thoroughness of an album. in july 2000 step reunited with the talented base jase in colorado springs and helped him produce no gravity. no gravity, meaning he can't be held down, is a complete, diverse album that took months of preparation but only four days to record. it contains an intro that describes a portion of los angeles life, two additional tracks of various lifestyles, three tracks with a message to other rappers, and two tracks of personal poetry of actual events in the life of stepdaddy. it also has four tracks of hilarious lyrical content, and three tracks which display the lyrical skillz of stepdaddy that put him into orbit with no gravity. so with 15 tracks, no gravity portrays a wide variety of lyrical content which is needed in today's materialistic hip hop world which can be sometimes monotonous. stepdaddy has also invested in ads in rap pages magazine. in the january/february edition there was an article on the artist entitled "rising stars". no gravity also appeared in bre magazine in the "new releases" column! in march 2001, step signed a management deal with loyalists enterprises and is currently working on a new project- stay tuned!
