“One day as Jesus was preaching on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, great crowds pressed in on him to listen to the word of God. He noticed two empty boats at the water’s edge, for the fishermen had left them and were washing their nets. Stepping into one of the boats, Jesus asked Simon, its owner, to push it out into the water. So he sat in the boat and taught the crowds from there.” “When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, ‘Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish ’” (Luke 5:1-4, NLT). I had been working on this project for over three years when I came across this passage. I read this many times before, but this time, it jumped off the page in bold red letters. My journey to go deeper in Christ began with this passage. I could hear God calling me to get closer to Him, to move beyond mediocrity and go after Him like never before. It seemed like He attached strings to my heart and was pulling on them. God was saying to me, “go out to where it is deeper and find me there.” I said yes to God and have never looked back. Going deeper in Christ has not been easy or simple. As a matter a fact, at times, it has been downright frustrating. There were plenty of times when I wanted to quit on myself, and quit the project. But through it all, God has held me so tightly. He is bringing me through to a place where I can say with confidence that He is who He says He is; He is forever faithful and loves me like crazy. I am totally and completely free in my Savior and there is nothing like it! I pray that you enjoy this project, and that you hear the Father’s heart for you in each song. I pray that you are encouraged and challenged to grab hold of Jesus’ hand, and go deeper in Him. Ivory M.
