The older we get, the more we experience and the broader the spectrum of emotions. In the past few years, I have suffered pain, betrayal, shame, disappointment, embarassment, and other difficult feelings at the expense of actions taken by others. And worse, I am certain I have caused others to feel this same way. The first verses illustrate how I felt after several men I know left their wives within months of each other, which devastated their families and significantly impacted my own relationships with them. The final verses illustrate personal betrayals of trust via gossip and breaches of confidence. I will not even begin to describe the experiences that led me to these lyrics...
