As a songwriter, composer, storyteller, and musician, Jake Sorgen has blended an unorthodox music background in free and improvised music with American and Anglo-folk traditions. This unique, Euro-cana sound is in full force on Jake’s latest EP, In Transit. Of the new songs, recently fine-tuned on a New England tour, one writer said “The dynamism in his guitar strumming paralleled the intensity of the lyrical content, creating a minimal yet cohesive musical message….the depth of the lyrical content, however, in no way sacrificed accessibility.” In Transit was recorded at Area 52 Studios, owned by world renowned engineer Dave Cook (B-52’s, Laurie Anderson, Medeski Martin & Wood), with producer, drummer, and father, Harvey Sorgen (Hot Tuna, Maciej Obara, Paul Simon), and bassist/composer Steve Rust (Sir James Galway, Anthony Braxton, Garth Hudson).
