简介
GOLD released its first album in February 2009! Two native Buffalonians, David Nehrboss and Bobby Frauenheim had a large following when they played in 1971 at the Inn Between and Ruby Red's, and performed concerts at Rockwell Hall, the Rose Garden and Skidmore College. In 1972, Gold performed gigs in Los Angeles at the famous Slumpfelder's and the Troubadour, where they received a standing ovation and interest by Warner Bros. and Electra Record companies. They also played the Bitter End in NYC. In New York, they lived in Jimi Hendrix's apartment behind the Electric Ladyland Studios. Gold went to the original Hit Factory where they demoed up RAINMAN, a song written by them in Los Angeles. Gold's talent interested Producers Joey Levine and David Spinozza, and A&M Records. In 1972, Gold received a 5 year contract with A&M Records and began recording their first album at the Hit Factory. Ten original songs were recorded, unheard of at the time when producers required groups to only record songs by established artists. Players David Spinozza (Ram - Paul McCartney), drummers Steve Gadd, Rick Marotta and Andy Newmark, and bassest Andy Muson, plus a 32 piece orchestra rounded out a timeless recording. Yoko Ono, present in the studio at the time, turned on the mike and said "great harmony." A grasp away. Then Bobby became ill and the album was never released until his sister and his music partner decided to remaster the album 34 years later in its entirety in memory of Bob's passing in August 2008. Bobby Frauenheim's genius and music lives on. There is a treasure of songs to be released on a second Gold album in 2010. David Nehrboss continues on with Sherry Hackett in the tradition of Gold, in a band called SKY. In December 1999, SKY released its first CD of 10 original songs, the last of which "Only If The Days Are Long" is an original Gold song.
