简介
This debut album was recorded over the course of 5 years, in Nashville, Tennessee, Naples, Maine and Holualoa, Hawaii. The best of many songs were compiled to create the musical, coming-of-age diary of Kimberly June. Kimberly June is an old soul with a new sound. Born in Southern Maine and raised in the Dominican Republic, her unique and cultured outlook on life gives her plenty to write and sing about. At age 16, she began playing guitar and writing songs while attending a summer program at the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston. Soon after, she became a regular at open-mic nights in her hometown, conquering stage fright while sharing her self-penned songs with audiences. Her pursuit of songwriting and performing led her to return to Berklee College of Music as a university student. During her sophomore year, Kimberly made a trip to Nashville, quickly fell in love with the city and transferred to Belmont University to complete her Music Business degree. While still in school, she landed a part-time job as the Catalog/Office Manager at a publishing company on Music Row and continued to pursue songwriting and performance opportunities. Those pursuits quickly began to pay off. In 2009, Kimberly was featured in an ASCAP writers night series, and soon after, her original song “Blue Skies” was chosen for the BMI Song Search. In short order, this momentum caught the attention of her boss, Tom-Leis Music’s Creative Partner Leslie “Tomasina” DiPiero. DiPiero signed Kimberly to her first publishing deal in 2011. In 2013, KJ went to explore Hawaii's music scene. She is currently living on the west side of the Big Island, and makes a living playing gig's at hotels, bars and restaurants in Kona and Waikoloa. Her debut album, “Boys and Girls" was released on August 12, 2014.
