简介

Kenny S., a.k.a. GEISHAMAN, is the grandson of Enju, who was once said to be the most traditional Edo geisha. His grandfather was Sakyo Kineya, a master of Nagauta (a style of traditional Japanese music), and his grandmother was Katoo Kineya, a shamisen player. He grew up in a family deeply rooted in traditional Japanese music. During his childhood, he was raised in a peculiar family environment where Colonel Russel C. Jackson of the U.S. Air Force, who was not related by blood, became his grandfather. He was influenced by the American music of the 1960s and 1970s that flowed from the U.S. military radio station FEN (Far East Network), which was always on in the kitchen. He began his career as a solo artist and later joined EZO ROCK AMATO, a band directly mentored by the Chuck Berry Band, in Sapporo's oldest live bar. They performed cover songs of classic rock based on American music and released original tracks. After two and a half years with the band, he left and put his music activities on hold to start a tattoo studio called MOUNTAIN HIGH TATTOO WORKS in Sapporo. After 16 years of silence, he resumed his music career under the name Kenny S. as a composer, guitarist, and visual creator.
