Mr. Baer served as a faculty member at California State University, Long Beach where he directed the University Tuba Ensemble and the Brass Choir. In Milwaukee, Mr. Baer was adjunct professor of tuba and euphonium at the University of Wisconsin and director of the Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble. Mr. Baer currently serves on the faculties of Bard College, the Mannes School of Music, and the Manhattan School of Music. He says of this collection of pieces: \"Some people say, as we get older we get wiser. I don\'t know if this is actually true, but I do know is that as I\'ve progressed as a musician throughout my career, I\'ve become more aware of the music that I\'m missing sitting in the back of the orchestra. While it\'s very nice to have a week off now and then due of programming, the musical knowledge that I miss out on makes keeping up with other musicians a challenge. When I first approached Rebecca and Scott about recording these pieces, they both told me that they had questions in their mind about how this was all going to work. Well, honestly, so did I. These arrangements are the brainchild of my wife Noreen, who is constantly coming to me and saying, \"Hey, don\'t you think this would sound great on tuba?\" Noreen has taken it upon herself to provide me (and now all other tubists) with new options to explore great music besides the usual \"Oom-pah\". So I thank Noreen for helping me open my eyes to the great music and styles that I\'ve been missing and have come to love.\"
