Airplay for the Planet - Remastered from a 96k source with more enhancement Please note that all but two tracks were recorded on a modified MCI 24 track analog recorder. I used the analog mix files to start with. The first CD version released in Japan used the analogue mix files and recorded to 44.1k 16 bit digital for CD. The mastering was fair at best. The next release in 2002 used the digital files and I tweaked EQ as to make sound better using the ADAT EQ, which does not allow automating the EQ. So this remaster is a completely different story. Some of you know we released a remastered file only version at 96K 24 bit (it was actually 32 bit float but had to be rendered down to 24k for the web site that sells the download file). I used the current state of the art EQ plug-ins in Pro Tools and Apogee Rosetta converters. I automated the EQ as needed so the EQ is not a “blanket” EQ allowing me to “ride” specific frequencies when too loud or too soft! After rendering down to 44.1k from the 96k files for this CD, Since I am a perfectionist, I once again wanted to enhance further using more current versions of EQ plug-ins in Pro Tools and once again, automating frequency up and down as needed. The audio is by far the best sounding EQ yet! Most of you know I never use a limiter for mastering as it takes away dynamics BUT FabFilter makes a limiter that allows for a very safe mode allowing the dynamics to hardly be altered allowing just a bit more gain and hardly any peaks were limited! This brings out nuances that I wanted to hear! There is also more defined low end frequencies and has slightly more “punch” on aggressive songs as well as more transparent sounding! Since the first release of this album, every version has different mastering. I humbly state every time I remaster, the audio sounds better! I spend at least 4 days per each re-mastering.
