I've always stayed away from politics, but the of events 2016 made this impossible. These songs are a reaction to Brexit and Trump's rise to power. I wanted to create a permanent emotional document, an anchor to remind myself of how it felt to wake up to have my faith in humanity shattered, to realise that there were forces at work I had massively underestimated. I wanted to capture the sadness, the anger and the insanity for reference in the future as more and more unthinkable events become normalised - as a reminder that the status quo was not always so.
