简介
After over a year of writing, recording, and mixing a whole slew of songs in his living room, Ann Arbor’s Jacob Sigman is gearing up to spend the next 5 months studying abroad in Europe. Although many of his ideas will enter the studio with him when he returns to the states in January, he is letting go of a few in the form of the aptly-titled Living Room EP, which will be available (pay what you want) on Bandcamp this Friday, July 31st. The first taste of the collection comes today, however, with the flashy pop epic “Pick Up The Phone.” The indelible track finds Sigman employing layer after layer (after layer) of concerted, sober pop instrumentation and buttery vocals, somehow blending together to form an acutely psychedelic ear-worm. The 20-year old troubadour’s latest single (and entire EP, for that matter) finds him as the McCartney-like counterpart to Kevin Parker (of Tame Impala)’s John Lennon; both are spirited perfectionists, often recalling the textures of 70’s pop, but with modern flare and an undeniable knack for song craft. It’s hard to believe this sugary shapeshifter was helmed by a full-time college student who can’t yet pick up a drink at the bar (at least not in America). 'Pick Up The Phone' is another essential from the future of pop music. Listen Below.
