简介

Victor Villadangos专辑介绍:Tracks 1-7 and 14 are solo guitar; tracks 8-11 are guitar and flute; track 12 is guitar & bandoneon; track 13 is guitar & cello; and track 15 is guitar, cello and flute. I'm not going to say anything about the music because it goes without saying that Victor Villadangos is a great player and he makes no exception on this recording. If you've never heard him then any of his 3 Naxos solo guitar recordings are a great place to start. I do want to make a few comments about the content of the program though. Don't be mislead by the title as I was. The "Solo Piazzolla" means that the CD is an all Piazzolla recording and the "En Guitarras" means that it is recorded on the Guitarras label. I was expecting a solo guitar recording of Piazzolla's works and was understandably disappointed. Track 1 and 14 are recorded in longer versions on his Naxos recording Tango Argentina. The suite, Cinco Piezas Para Guitarra (Tracks 2-6) do not appear on any of his other commonly available recordings. Buenos Aires Hora Cero (track 7) is a 7 minute live version of the same song (4 minute studio version) that appears on Tango Argentina. It's a great song but the 25 seconds of applause that ends the song breaks the flow of the music and is totally unnecessary. Bandoneon works well with guitar to create an Argentinean cafe atmosphere, so I did appreciate Libertango, which is recorded on Tango Argentina for solo guitar. Lo Que Vendra is also an okay piece, though it is mostly a cello piece with the guitar being relegated to an obligato role. Jacinto Chiclana (track 14) is my favorite Piazzolla song, and, besides its truncation, its placement between ensemble pieces is a poor placement choice. I absolutely hate guitar and flute recordings and the suite, Historia del Tango (tracks 8-11), is no exception. Absolutely horrendous, as is the final track. This, of course, reflects my personal taste, not the musicianship or the recording quality. Unless you collect versions of the suite, Cinco Piezas Para Guitarra, and want a longer version of Buenos Aires Hora Cero, there is little else to recommend on this 60 minute recording. The notes are sparse and are in Spanish.
