We want to call Silvestry a triple threat, but not even that description can truly encompass his abilities! He is alluring, enticing, charming, outgoing and full of life! This young artist not only sings, writes songs and plays the guitar; he also acts, dances and does graphic artwork. The 23 year old was born and raised in New York City. At the age of 6, Silvestry appeared in a children's commercial for Nickelodeon promoting an ad for "Sonic The Hedgehog." Even at this age, Johnny knew that he wanted to become a performer - he was extremely devoted & excelled in his chorus class. He would sit at home, rewind the musical parts of his favorite Disney movies, write the songs down and sing them over and over again. Silvestry had enjoyed being a part of his elementary school choir so much that he continued to do so throughout junior high and high school; he was also nominated "Best Male Vocalist" for his Senior Class. By the time he reached 5th grade, Silvestry was introduced to mainstream recording artists, such as: Michael Jackson, Beyonce (Destinys Child), Britney Spears and Ricky Martin among many others. The music that these artists performed played a major role in his life. At the age of 12, Silvestry was unwillingly entered into his first talent show to sing. "I remember not wanting to sing, because at that age I was more into pantomime and dancing. I wanted to drop out of the competition, but I did it anyway." It was no surprise that Silvestry won first place. But that wasn't all he did; the pre-teen captivated the hearts of many as he performed his original song. "I looked out into the audience and people were crying, and when the show was finished, people came up to me asking where they could buy my album. Since that night, all I could do was dream about becoming a famous performer one day." Growing up, Silvestry was musically influenced by major Gospel Artists, such as Aretha Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, Cece Winans and Alvin Slaughter. At the age of 16, Silvestry had the privilege to sing with a Choir at Madison Square Garden for Donnie McClurkin and Alvin Slaughter. "Growing up, I wasn't really allowed to listen to secular/mainstream music, so if I listened to it, I had to hide the CDs. I didn't understand what could possibly be wrong with listening to these artists. I'd listen to Destiny's Child, Whitney Houston, Usher, Justin Timberlake, Mariah Carey and P!NK all the time and they sang songs that marked my life forever. I saw a piece of myself in their songs and decided that I wanted to write songs that other people could relate to. Whether someone was hurt, abused, lonely, wanted to run away, had gone through an awful break-up, wanted revenge or was madly in love. Because I myself have gone through it all." Silvestry has released his 2013 album "Opening Up" which has been in the works for 3 years. The album contains collaborations from New York to Europe. A unique style of R&B/Pop songs that were all written by the artist himself. The album starts off with an encouraging spoken word song, titled, "Break Free." which then leads him into more personal songs about love, breakups, lessons learned, vengeance and desire. It goes without saying why the album is called "Opening Up." He literally poured out his heart with these lyrics!
